Betraying Ever After-- A giveaway and my 100th post :)

About a week ago, I sent out a challenge: 100 'to read' shelve adds on goodreads for Betraying Ever After: A Shattered fairytale. I'm SO excited to let you know that we've done it!!!! I'm so excited <3 Thank you all for adding it and being excited about it!!

So, now I'm giving away a $20 Amazon Gift Card and an advanced copy of Betraying Ever After to celebrate :) Be sure to enter!

What is Betraying Ever After?
The first time Vaughan Wexley, Earl of Brighton, eyes the blonde beauty from atop the balcony, he is taken. Once he confronts her, he finds himself in love. The mysterious woman seems out of place in the regular sea of husband nabbing debutantes. She posses a gentle spirit, wide-eyed innocence, and-- his favorite quality-- cascading golden waves around her elegant shoulders. In need of a wife of noble blood, Vaughan believes his search has ended.

Emma Hartwell's only mission at the ball is to deliver a message to the host from her employer. In and out. That's the plan until she sees beautiful sights she's only dreamed of and hears wonderful music that touches her soul. Dressed up as a noble woman by the young housemaid Elizabeth and knowing she'll never get this opportunity again, Emma lingers longer than she intended. Her amazement with the grandeur allows the devilishly handsome Lord Brighton to steal her attention and sweep her off her feet. He is a charming man who is obviously taken with her. Emma's heart doesn't stand a chance. If only she could tell him the truth.

An earl in need of an honorable wife.

A servant in love with a man she can't have.

An evil plan that was set in motion years ago coming to fruition.

Can love conquer betrayal? Or will Emma's fairytale end at midnight?

A Cinderella re-telling.

Happy Reading :)

100 Word Wednesday -- The Black Heart

So my 100 word Wednesday is a day late and 200 words ;) But- yeah. I'm sorry about that. At least it's up this week! That's something.

It's also a snippet from THE BLACK HEART (Hindsight 2) which came out yesterday. It's 99 cents until Saturday <3

**Backstory: Walker (the narrators) is in jail for punching a cameraman in the nose.**

I hung my head. “I was a little busy to text her back, you know, with the protecting your honor and all.”

She actually snorted. Must have been a Rivers’ trait. “Like my honor needs your protecting.”

“Obviously it did,” I reminded her.

She narrowed her eyes at me and placed her thumbs on the keyboard again. This time, she had a devilish giddiness to her. “What? No. Don’t. I’m in here, unable to protect myself and I'm gonna…”

“You’re gonna do what?” she challenged playfully. She was so cute when she was playful. “Talk me to death.”

“Oh I can be very persuasive…”

“Children!” Sheriff Rivers yelled, his face red. Clearly frustrated. “Can you please be quiet so I can write this up? Unless you want to stay in here all night, Mister Scott.”

I didn’t.

But I had to know. “What did you send her, J? Tell me.”

“Oh for the love of…” the sheriff said — I’m sure you can imagine his tone.

J laughed and walked the phone to me, close enough so I could read it.

Sorry, Alicia. A little tied up at the moment. See you tomorrow… maybe.

I bet you can guess the look I gave J.

After a huge sigh, he-- the sheriff-- reluctantly handed over the key.

#utopYAResolutions What I want to do in the next year :)

 photo 10478526_10152507997745915_7252937036608481202_n_zpsf379c91e.jpg

This was me at utopYA 2014 this year <3 (Which makes sense since it IS 2014.) The theme was 'Take me to your reader' so when you see aliens, that's why.

UtopYA is a convention in Nashville with YA/NA authors/bloggers/fans. It is one of the most awesome experiences you can have :) **Note the smiling face...**

On the utopYA facebook page, we were challenged to write out our #utopYAResolutions Sort of like New Years Resolutions, but more about what we want to accomplish before next year's conference. I have a few. Some are HUGE-- Some are measurable -- And some are dreams. But I'm going to put them all here and update them throughout the year to see how I'm doing.

Here we go...

utopYA Resolutions for 2015:

**Top 1000 in Amazon (especially in a new category since I'm writing in new genres this year-- Regency and NA)

**Be in the local paper (I won't get into the reasons why I haven't been here ;) )

**Come to terms with the accent. Friends, I have a very southern accent.  I live about an hour from Nashville. It comes out when I'm nervous. Heck, it comes out all the time. It is very intimidating to speak in front of people who don't have accents (at least it is to me). I didn't realize how hard it was for me until utopYA this year when I had a table and people came by to talk to me-- the UPSIDE-- I sold 2 books simply because they liked my accent. SCORE!!

**Be a more confident speaker. I have all of these ideas I *want* to say. I can write them all out. I can post on message boards and facebook until my fingers fall off and I'm fine-- BUT make me talk face to face with someone and I FREEZE (which is odd since I'm a teacher.) Part of it is the accent again, and part of it is I'm SO SCARED of either saying something stupid or saying something as a joke and accidently offending someone (it's happened-- and I think I cried a week over it). SO, that is something I really need to work on.

**Start a vlog. I have a youtube account and I've made videos for my facebook page before, but I'm going to do a vlog at least 2 times a month for youtube. (My legs turn to jello just by typing that ;) ) But I'm going to do it. <3

***** DAILY RESOLUTIONS *****

***Work on my social media daily. I have tumblr (which I'm fangirl enough to LOVE!!!), facebook, twitter, pinterest, etc. I think I'm on pinterest the least.

***Write 2,000 words a day-- not counting blog or facebook posts ;)

***Make 1 meme every day. I use picmonkey.com and it's super easy. I just need to DO IT. Imagine the collection I'd have by the end of the year? The content? The pictures I could use for promotion??? I'm getting giddy all thinking about it.

********************utopYA Dream*********************

**Be on a panel ;) Might seem strange after my 'Be a more Confident Speaker' thing, but my big, huge ultimate sort of awesomeness would be on a panel. What would I talk about? Hmm...
Becoming more confident ;)
Writing different genres.
Writing/publishing 10 books in 2 years....
How to write quickly...
Finding time to write with a family, a full time job, and that doubt bubble following over your head daily...
AND-- hopefully-- 'What a difference a year makes' ;)

There you have it. My utopYA resolutions! Basically, it's me being more confident with ME, getting over myself, and busting out of my shell. I can SO do that! I'm ready.

Are you?

~Kelly

“Did you sense the pain from within the child?” Declan asked.

“It was greater than anything I have ever experienced. What was done to her is unforgivable. Her strength in not giving into the Shade is unfathomable. Normally, I would say the child has much to learn, but in this case, I fear we have much to learn from her.” Alaric answered with reverence.

Turning toward the pool Declan responded, “Emzara will know what to do. I will call for her as well.”

Looking into the water, he saw the fair-skinned child lying at Adela’s feet, her long copper locks strewn across a perfectly round face. Declan, the great black unicorn, whispered, “Happy birthday, little one. We will find out who or what has awoken you. You will be safe. No harm shall befall you. This is my solemn vow.”

“It is time dear friend.”  A voice shook him from his thoughts.

The Dragon and Unicorn Knights cast spell after spell into the pool.  Runes in ancient languages long since forgotten began to glow on her skin weaving a glowing web of magic around the sleeping girl. A faint orange light caught the Unicorn Knight’s eye. Amongst the glowing runes on her body, a faint symbol appeared on her wrist. Adela watched as the sleeping girl accepted the magic from the knights -- and strengthened it.

“She bears the mark of the Great Sacrifice. The myths are true. I knew she someone important when she came to the cave, but never in all these millennia did I think she was the Taken.” The Knights looked at one another as the reality of who the young girl’s identity became clear.

B. L. Marsh has been writing and telling stories her entire life.  She is a music teacher, guest lecturer and runs Master Classes.  Her academic research is focused on the L’homme arme tradition, the Dead Sea Scrolls, chant transmission in the Medieval and Renaissance, and Gnostic and Kabbalah history.  Her passion for spirituality, mythology and developing her relationship with God are parts of her Rule of Life.  In her reading of the Bible and other extra-biblical texts however, she began to daydream about the characters, about how life was back then, and how cool it would have been to walk in the Garden with God.  Her stories weave a new mythology revolving around Genesis.

When she is not writing or teaching, she spends her days hanging out with five of the coolest boys on the planet and at night can be found doing completely ridiculous things like reading Joseph Campbell and Jane Austin and watching the same 3 movies on TV.
