100 Word Wednesday: The Devil's name was Fred.

Hi guys! Today is another WonHundred Word Wednesday :) I'm excited for you guys to read this one. It was really fun to write :) Let me know what you think in the comments.

~Kelly

This week's prompt:
THE DEVIL'S NAME WAS FRED.

I stare into the vastness. White. Seemingly never-ending... but I know it does. It has to. White. Floors. Walls. Ceiling.
This is Hell.

I know it is.
My body shudders. I can't be here. I'm not meant to be here. What...
Then I see him.

Small at first, then grows bigger as he approaches me.
Nowhere to run.
Nowhere to hide.
He's coming for me.
He smiles, but I know he doesn't mean it.
No way out.
Closer he comes.
He introduces himself eagerly.
The devil's name is Fred.
And he won't let me leave.
Until I buy a car.

COVER REVEAL and Top 5 Things I've done on Spring Break-- Probably not what you think ;)

If you don't know, I'm not just a writer. I'm also a teacher. I teach Special Education Preschool. Love it. Love my kids. Love my aid. Love my school. Just... love it!

But, as with all things, I do tend to look forward to vacations. Vacations are nice. A great time to spend time with your family and friends.... your kids... your housework you've put off until (I'm off that week).

And to top it all off... my husband actually decided to take the week off as well.

I had plans. I had BIG plans. I didn't get most of them competed. There are reasons (aren't there always).

Here are the 5 things I PLANNED On getting done this week (followed by the 5 things I DID do):

1). Clean my house

2) Go to the zoo with my kids

3) Write every day

4) Finish writing The Black Heart

5) Have a date night with the husband.

Get all of that?

Here are the 5 things I DID do for Spring Break:

1. I read Divergent.
I had no intentions of reading Divergent. I just finally bought it on my kindle. ALL of my plans were all sort of turned upside down when I hurt my back and couldn't get off of the couch for 2 days. SO, Sunday while the husband had the kids, I downloaded Divergent. And I read... and read... and read... and read... and finished. When I got back online to see how long it was, I nearly feel over to learn it was 500 pages!!! I felt sort of like a reading superhero ;)

2. I slept.
I slept a lot. This was accomplished by muscle relaxers and pain pills (for my back... not because I have a problem with them.)

3. I folded seven loads of clothes.
While I was out for the count, I DID wash clothes. I have three kids. They needed clothes lol. But I didn't fold them. When I got better, I had to fold them. And there were a lot. Sigh. When did we get this many clothes?

FYI, not my house ;) (from www.ladydaadoo.com )

4. I went to Hell... and watched the Divergent movie.
"Hell" was a car dealership. I'm sure you understand. I think car dealerships are fine places. I do. They are wonderful. But... just... I won't get into it. But the good part was I got to see the Divergent movie (not at the car dealership, btw). Which means I got to see Four. And that was okay with me :)

Absolutely LOVED the movie!!!!!

5. I finished THE BLACK HEART!!
I'm SO excited! Look, I know Hindsight 1: Out of the Blue hasn't came out yet (going to next month), but I'm so excited to have part 2: The Black Heart finished! I can breathe... and NOW I just have to write RED SCARLET (book 3).

Wanna see the cover for THE BLACK HEART?!? Be the first people anywhere (except my street team).

Drumroll please.....

100 Word Story: A Familiar Stranger

 photo wonhundredwordwedprompt_zps854002c1.jpg

A Familiar Stranger (100 words):

It happens when you are minding your own business... going your own way in the world. That's when the world decides to fall apart. I stand on the subway platform freezing, just like I had done every morning since I had been forced to move.
Then, I see 'him'.

I have to squint through the swirling snow to make sure my eyes aren't playing tricks, but there is no doubt. Same dark hair. Same haunting blue eyes. Same dab of red on the crease of his mouth.
It's him. My love.

Only it's not. He's been dead for two years.

The "Love" in Love and Diamonds

Yesterday, I talked about diamonds and how I loved them, but I don't like wearing them. I'm not a jewelry type girl. Never really have been.

So, today I decided to talk about Love.

I admit I'm a jealous type. I'm the sort that goes on facebook and gets jealous of what others' husbands do for them. I can't help it. It happens.

I'd probably be happier if I stopped reading facebook lol

The husband has never been a real big enthusiast of the writing. It DOES take up a lot of time. I'll give him that. But for the past 3 years, he hasn't really done much in the encouragement department. He likes when they are finished. Not so much the time it takes to actually write one.

It was just the way of the world.

Then, a few weeks ago, I started to get down about writing. It's hard. And it takes up a lot of time... and though I LOVE it... it's hard on the old nerves.

I thought about just slowing down.

Maybe even stopping completely.

It made the husband happy because it meant I would be free to do more wifely stuff like... I don't know... .washing the man's underwear.

I didn't write as much in those weeks.

I also didn't smile as much.

I wasn't as happy.

But I was around.

I was dealing.

Then, this Friday... he surprised me. He bought me a new IDEA BOARD for my computer room (now office) and an erasable calendar to keep up with my stuff I do as a publicist.

And I cried.

It was honestly the sweetest thing he's ever done for me.

He's bought me diamonds before. Lots of them actually. He's bought lots of things. But the one thing that meant the most were those boards.

Because it meant he was behind me. He was supporting me.

He said he wanted me happy.

That is love (in my opinion anyway).

P.S.-- the idea board is already covered ;) And I'm back to writing.

What is your definition of love?

Love and Diamonds (two of my favorite things :) )

I love looking at diamonds. I think they are pretty and sparkly and oh so awesome.

I also don't like wearing them (which is weird I suppose). I don't even wear my wedding ring... or my engagement ring... or my anniversary ring... or my mother's ring.

There is a very important reason why (2 actually): 1) I've gained a slight amount of weight since I got married (slight.... SLIGHT I say...) and 2). In my job, I'm afraid I'll lose them.

BUT WAIT KELLY, you could be saying... I thought you were a writer. How... what... huh?

Writing is my second job (third if you count being a publicist). My first job (the one that pays me the most) is I'm a special education preschool teacher. Which means I have to change diapers... which means I have to wear gloves... which means... yeah. I'm afraid I'll lose them.

So. I don't wear my diamonds.

But I gawk at other's and their big ole sparkly rocks.

What does this have to do with anything?

Well, it is leading to my story in the Astraea Press: Love and Diamonds anthology. My story is about how I GOT my engagement ring. 3 weeks after the now husband and I started dating...

Justin Scott has it all planned out... His boat. A beautiful creek. A pretty woman. A gorgeous ring. Sure, he's only dated Faith for three weeks, but he knows she was the right one. He just hopes she feels the same way. Will he be able to go along with his plan to make it the most memorable proposal ever? Or will Faith have a secret of her own?

~*~*~*~

Dun.... Dun.... Dunnnn...

I would love for you to read how the husband and I got engaged (and what a large fish had to do with it...) in the anthology. Along with mine, there are 14 other stories in there sure to make you smile and fall in love all over again.

Or at least give you a good time for a few hours....
