I changed a word in the prompt. (sorry) This is based on my book THE AFTERLIFE OF LIZZIE MONROE.
Today's prompt: I stared at the flames that had...

Shane stared at the flames that had grown into a roaring blaze.  He thought he should feel something. Remorse? Regret? It was a church after all. An old church. A closed church, but a church none-the-less. People had gotten saved there. People had gotten married there.

And therein was the rub.

Years ago, two people were joined in matrimony in that church. One was a person he loved. One he hated.

His parents.

The fire roared.

Burning the horrible place that had ruined his life.

He turned to leave when he heard it.

A scream.

But it had been empty.
